THE VANISHING AMERICAN JEW – Alan Dershowitz’s book describes a serious Jewish problem of their children permanently outside the faith. By 1990 the inter-marriage rate reached 52%. Only 10% of spouses convert. 54% of children in all Jewish households are not being raised as Jews. He argues that “intermarriage is the greatest threat to the long, sought success and social acceptance.” He advocates Jews marry only Jews, or the movement will die. If also through the father, many more accepted, 28% of Temples allow non-Jewish members, and 27% allow none. Newsweek, Apr 28, 1997.
