Elder Crum/Michael Shaw – East New York 1 – Nov 4, 1996 – “OLD MEDIA THE KEY TO 630” – We received some media referrals, and went to two of them. One lady her son and aunt are committed for Thursday. She also has four more children, her husband and lots of friends! She is very excited, we showed church yesterday. She tells everyone that she is taking lessons from the missionaries, she tells all her friends over to listen to us. She is a “Lacing” machine, and she is not yet baptized! Also a Spanish lady who saw the ad on TV, felt inspired to call, loved the message, 4 children, husband and Grandma, who are all looking great. It’s all like you said today at Zone Conference, Media Referrals, no matter what, are the key to 630 for November. These people are ready.”
Sister Harper/Tingey – Jamaica 1 – Jul 6, 1996 – “TELECENTER CONVERSION” – We visited a recent convert to give him the New Member Discussions. He had only been a new member a few days, but he told us that he had called the 800 number to receive the Book of Mormon. Because I had served in the Tele Center before I came here, his name and voice sounded familiar. We were able to determine that I was the one who spoke with him from the Tele Center. Tears formed in my eyes. It is rare that you get to see the fruits of your labors, especially in your “rookie” area, in the first few days of your mission!”
