April 5, 1997, Saturday
Well, we got to [General] Conference and after the first session had 5 baptisms, […] Yeleny and her brother, and three others. The Bomb. It’s a good start. We only had 3 fall out. Then we went on splits again to solidify more commitments and do interviews. Ya, it went nice.
[Elder] and [Elder] pulled through. I was really scared wondering if they would get all of these and they came through […].
April 6, 1997, Sunday
We went to church early to baptize Doniseth’s brother and Kaisha. […] Then [Elder] had a family of 5 and 2 friends come. We took care of that. 3 of them got baptized. And then Brownsville came with another 3 from a family we had been teaching there. Wow, […] we had 8 baptisms. We only saw 1 [other baptism] […] from the 4 zones that were there [over the] 2 days. We’re at 15 and it’s the 6th We’re going for 40. [Elder] and I have got about 5 in the mix but we need like 7 more. I’m pumped. […] Good people.
April 7, 1997, Monday
[…] We had to interview a girl for baptism so we did and we had to wait for her sister and when her sister [arrived] she said no. I’m not doing it. We were like, OK. [She ended up getting baptized]
April 8, 1997, Tuesday
We had a mission conference. [One of] the first things said was, the mission is at 33 and East New York is at 16. Everyone was like WOW. We had ½ the baptisms in the mission. It’s nuts. Then when we had Zone presentations, […] We stood up and said, we were the dream team. We don’t talk smack, we get the job done. [That didn’t go over well]
The spirit is so strong in this area, this month. I can’t believe it. We are finding people all over. People are so prepared. I almost can’t believe it. I’m on fire. I love it. I’m so pumped to be here I feel so blessed for it also. I will do my best to please my Father [in Heaven]. I just am going to take care of my job and baptize… everyone. I was sent to baptize and I will get them all. […]

April 10, 1997, Thursday
Well, we went out and worked hard. It was cool. We got some good fearlesses and we were juked by a few people. […] Nothing really special happened except for a few born-again Christians came up and said they were going to run us out of town.
