Jacob Hansen and Trent Horn Debate the Book of Mormon

I was so impressed with this debate. I don’t want to say too much about it. I’m not articulate or scholarly enough to argue these points. Rather I would encourage you to watch it or listen to it yourself. With that said, I did want to mention a few things.

#1 – These two men, Jacob Hansen and Trent Horn were very cordial with each other during this debate. I was impressed with how they treated each other. I was impressed with how they respected each other. They are both very intelligent and did very well debating each other.

#2 – This was my first time listening to Trent Horn. I had no idea who he was before watching this debate. I still have no idea who he is other than he was good at debating on behalf of Catholicism. I don’t agree with him, but I was so impressed with his conviction in the Catholic faith. I have rarely heard someone defend the Catholic faith like that before. I met a lot of Catholics on my mission. The conviction he shared was more than the figure of speech I would often hear on my mission, “I was born a Catholic, I will die a Catholic.” That conviction was always so shallow and based on tradition, not substantive belief. I heard a more substantive belief from Trent Horn. He knew his doctrine and his convictions shined through.

#3 – I was so impressed by the testimony that Jacob Hansen bore at the end of the debate. I loved it. [02:08:50] In his closing statement he gives a testimony of the Book of Mormon. I loved it. It is simple, but I loved it.
