99+1

The Church recently started a new PR campaign, 99+1. It represents the Savior looking for the one, as well as the prophet being 99 and turning 100. Honestly, I haven’t given it much thought or consideration, I have just moved along with the things I have wanted to do. I started seeing it more and more. 99+1 on Instagram. 99+1 on Facebook. 99+1 in other places. Honestly, I think it is a brilliant marketing campaign because it is so recognizable.

Luke 15:4

What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

The other day, I saw one of the 99+1 posts and it struck me. I was the one he came and found. There is an image by Del Parson called “Once Lost” where Jesus is holding a black lamb. That image resonated so deeply with me. When I worked at Seagull Book a signed limited edition of this painting came into my store. I purchased it and have it hanging in my living room as a constant reminder to myself. I was once lost, and I was found. I shouldn’t be here today. But I am because he came to find me.

He has asked us to find the one as well. Who can we share the gospel with? Who can we help see the light of Christ?
