I thought I would take a moment and share a few of my favorite LDS Movies. Some are relatively new like Witnesses and Fighting Preacher, others are classics like Legacy and The Testaments. In between is a whole bunch of goodness, for example, The Work and the Glory and The Other side of Heaven. If you are looking for something good to watch, try one of the titles on my list.
I started by making a list of all the LDS Movies I could think of. There are a lot. I don’t know all of them. I didn’t list anything I thought was clearly anti-LDS or conflicting with church teachings.
Clearly, it is not a complete list. There are a few “questionable” titles on it. Was it made by someone LDS? Was it for an LDS market? Were the actors LDS? Full-length, short, documentary, TV program. I may have errored and there may have been a few things added to the list that are not full-length LDS movies.
The 20 Best LDS Movies
I love these movies. I would suggest these are the top 20 LDS movies. I’ve watched each one numerous times. It’s hard to pick an absolute favorite. I like many of them for different reasons. The Work and the Glory, I wish they had funding to have done more. I get that they didn’t do well in theaters, but they are such great movies.
The Worst LDS Movies
As for the worst LDS movies… there are a few that are pretty bad. Arguments can be made about the acting, production quality, script, and a myriad of other things. But, honestly, I don’t wish to list any of them. I know people spent money, time, effort, and more trying to produce these movies and honestly, I wish there were more to choose from. Keep producing.
I also have a number of good friends who are involved in this industry. They have dedicated their lives to creating LDS content and I desire nothing more than to see them succeed.
