NYNYS Mission November 16-22, 1996

November 16, 1996
Well, we had a finding baptismal meeting in Midwood today. Wow, it was cool. I saw an old investigator and condemned her. She was in the same place as last year. She knew it was all true […]. She was unwilling to soften her heart. Oh well. I found a lady who was planning on getting baptized but didn’t want to yet. She had had a vision of being a member, but was scared to be baptized because she possessed a special power to heal and knew if she was baptized it would go away. We saw our family tonight and took the kids to see [something] at the church. They loved it. But when we were leaving they said their mom was confused because we never mentioned Virgin Mary and Saints. Oh did we take care of that. After explaining it to the girls we went right over and took care of that business with the mother. There was such a nice sweet warm spirit there even though we did it so bluntly and boldly. Wow. But still, she wouldn’t come to church, for sure. But she understood. That’s the important part. But wow, they’re all so prepared. They were all just waiting for the mother and couldn’t do it without her

Well, we went to pick up our family and to our surprise Maria the mother was getting ready. Cool. She was pumped to go. She was like a new and had a new light and a new attitude and all. Then she loved church a lot. She was so happy and all the kids loved it. We asked them if we could take them to a baptism after church and they all said OK. And the two girls got work off. Nice. So, we went and they felt the spirit of it. They loved it so they went in for interviews and came out in whites. All but the mother. Honestly, we should have baptized them all at once but we couldn’t. Oh, my heart aches that they were not baptized together. […] It was so spiritual. They were all crying, the mother and the children. Wow, and what a blessing. On the way home, they related to my comp how when they had their prayers they decided to do it like us. In the morning one of the girls went and asked the other if she had gotten an answer and it was if the answer was a voice or a dream Tony told Mariana it wasn’t either, it was just a feeling. It was true. She just knew it. Wow. And it was the same with the others, the mother also. That is why she went. Wow. What a blessing. Four baptisms and I know our prayers for administering angels were answered. Maria is planning for Wednesday.

Well, we had a Baptismal Meeting and Elder Von J Featherstone came. […] I went to see Catherin who I baptized my first month here in East New York. That’s where the meeting was. She moved to North Carolina. Dang, no wonder I could never get ahold of her. That’s why her phone was disconnected.

P-Day well, we gave up a little P-Day to have a baptism. Nice. I forgot to have her bring a towel and we forgot to pick up a few people. They were only a little pissed. Anyhow. It was a successful baptism. […] After she realized she wasn’t supposed to baptize herself. Then we went to her home and she had tostones (fried platinos) yum yum. […]

Again, off to Rego Park. This time for Bailey to talk to us […] Wow, another hour and a half on the train, that is three times this week. Ouch, each way. […] They reinforced that Investigators need to attend church 2 Sundays before they can be baptized. No problem. […]

[…] I accidentally spilled the beans and told someone we poached. Dang. I can’t keep secrets for nothing. Oh, you got 5 people baptized out of your area. Not 1, not 2, but 5. That’s a lot. […] We did feel the spirit about it. We’ve got 2 out of 8 sick in our pad with bronchitis. Ouch looking to have nearly 8 out of 8 sick. […]
