I was reading the Pearl of Great Price today and came across two passages that made me reflect upon Pastor Jeff. Not wanting to go to the extreme on him, but rather draw some differences. As I was reading, these two verses flew off the page at me in relation to things I have heard Pastor Jeff talk about.
Joseph Smith History 1:12 “…for the teachers of religion of the different sects understood the same passages of scripture so differently as to destroy all confidence in settling the question by an appeal to the Bible.”
Joseph Smith History 1:21 “…there were no such things as visions or revelations in these days; that all such things had ceased with the apostles, and that there would never be any more of them.”
Wow, as I was reading those, the voice of Pastor Jeff was ringing in my head. It was almost as though he was saying these things himself in his own voice. So much so I almost believe I have heard him say these exact phrases. I don’t think he has, but he has sure come close.
Even in the confusion and the mirky sea of different interpretations, some people can’t see the conflict in beliefs between Christian sects. They can’t see they are missing half the truth or missing a cornerstone of the doctrine of Christ. All interpreting these doctrines differently, how could any one of them be right?

Even being in the LDS we realize all truth has not been revealed, but it will be revealed.
Thank God, for a living prophet who can speak the mind and will of God. Thank God for the scriptures that Joseph Smith revealed through the prophet Joseph Smith. It did not end with the apostles.
