Seeing though the veil.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to see through the veil? If not completely through the veil, then maybe a glimpse?

I’ve had a few experiences where I have felt I have seen the spirits beyond. Not completely, but I have felt their presence and seen their light. I had one of these this last weekend on trek with my son. Here is the story.

It had been windy and rainy most of the morning.  There was a point that it felt like a bigger storm was going to roll in.  You could see darker heavier clouds rolling in on two sides.  I was busily working when I heard somebody mention gathering and praying.  I turned around.  It was a younger guy who had the appearance of a young cowboy or an outfitter.  I did not know him, but I had seen him pointing out the clouds to someone a few minutes earlier.  I assumed we were going to spontaneously pray hoping to tame the elements.

I didn’t expect what came next. Remember, it was overcast, and dark clouds seemed to be forming on two sides of us.  As I closed my eyes, I could immediately see moving white light through my closed eyes.  As though white figures brighter than daytime were all around me, moving about.  I could tell they were angels and spirits on the other side engaged with us in the work we were doing.  As I listened to the prayer, I can’t remember a word that was spoken, but my heart burned with the testimony of the Holy Ghost.   I wrote Nicole [my wife] a text telling her about it among other things.   She wrote back asking what happened? It hadn’t crossed my mind.  It didn’t rain.  As soon as everyone went to bed it poured like cats and dogs. Thunder, lightning and rain for quite some time.  I guess we did have the providence of God that day and the prayer of faith tamed the elements.

Then next morning, the companies were ready, and we watched them start to trek. I thought it was odd because people were following them up the train with carrying chairs. I honestly had no idea what the schedule was, I was too busy cooking. I asked what was going on and was told there was a fireside a short way up the trail by some pioneer graves. I was a bit surprised; I had no idea there were pioneer graves a short distance up the trail. So, I followed everyone up the trail to see the graves and hear the fireside.

The graves were amazing. Then I went over to watch the fireside. To my surprise, I learned that the man who said the prayer yesterday was a descendant of Joseph Smith, and he was giving the fireside about his life, conversion, and the posterity of the prophet Joseph Smith. It was amazing. The stories about his family and their path back to the church were awesome to listen to. I felt very blessed to be there.
