When I was young growing up as a kid, I was not a believer. I hasn’t had that witness of hte Holy Ghost telling me God existed. I think because of that, the benchmark I always looked to was the year 2000. I would turn 27 in the year 2000. It was difficult for me to see myself ever existing up to or past that time, let alone past that time.
After learning an receiving truth, a little part of me has wanted to live to see the prophecies fulfilled and the final day when Jesus Christ would return in the clouds from the east. But when will that be? I know the scripture that says no man knoweth the day or the hour (or the minute). But I also know if you watch, you will know the time and the season.
First, I am not a scholar. I would rather listen to the scriptures than read. I also love reading and hearing the perspectives of those have that scholarly gift and are able to comb through the scriptures lacing the doctrines and revelations together. This post will focus on analyzing one such scenario.
I’ve listened to a few videos of Morgan Philpot lecturing on the last days. I think through those videos I have come to really respect Morgan. In one such video he outlines how the Book of Mormon parallels the last days. The way he explained it was impressed upon my mind. So, I wanted to write it out, to analyze it and thought I would do so as a blog post. Hopefully this can be done in a way it makes sense.
There are three parts to this particular video series. I will be focusing on Video #2
TIME
One of the first things he brings up is time. What year is it? How was time recognized or recorded then and how is it recognized or recorded today? At 19:15 in the video he starts to talk about how time was recorded.
In the Nephite time. Year 1 was the year after the start.
In our time Year 1 was the year 2000 was recognized as year 1. But it starts with 0, not 1. In fact, year 2000 should have been the last year of the 6th thousand-year period. Year 1 in the millennium should not have counted until year 2001. In 3 Nephi 2:8 it says: Now the Nephites began to reckon their time from this period when the sign was given, or from the coming of Christ; therefore, nine years had passed away.
This is really interesting; Morgan draws the conclusion that altering the year was an act of deception.
TYPES AND SHADOWS
We are told the Book of Mormon is a type and shadow. Now, I remember from my days of institute down at UVU listening to Scott Anderson, Ed Pinnegar, and others that the Book of Mormon is a mirror of the last days. If you want to know what to expect in the las days, read the Book of Mormon.
I have looked at 3 Nephi and tried to map it out to these days and I was unable to. Nothing seemed to line up with dates. However, when I listened to Morgan explain it in this video, it all seemed to jump off the screen and all of a sudden be clear as day.
Morgan points out that there is an error in the dating. Year 1, vs Year 2000; they are one-year apart. While trying to map the book to modern existence, they will not match. But, if you make an adjustment by one year, they will match. [This is at about 22:45 in the video]

Dedication of the Palmyra Temple – The first time stake centers are turned into tabernacles.
- Thursday April 6, 2000 was the first day in the Hebrew Year
- 7th day of Passover that year
- I was the day [7th day of Passover] that God Parted the Red Sea
- It was the day [April 6th] that Christ died upon the cross and gave up the ghost
- 1st day in the 1st month of an accidental new century
- 170 years from the organization of the church
- 180 years from the First Vision
- Palmyra means palm [Christ began his final week with palms]
DID THE 7TH SEAL OPEN ON APRIL 6, 2000
In trying to identify the date. Was this really the opening of the 7th seal? Did it really take place on April 6, 2000. Morgan shares some astrological signs as a witness… some aspects of astrology don’t make sense to me. And, I wasn’t able to find a star chart program that would show me what he showed. I’ll explain it briefly, but I’m not going to talk about much it.
He described that on the night of April 5, 2000 the beginning of the jewish sabbath, the planets were aligned above the city of Palmyra to in the southern sky. He then proceeded to share some scriptures that talked about signs in the heavens and even a sign in the heavens that was a line similar to the alignment of the planets.
He also shared some scriptures. Honestly, I need to look at them close to understand myself if they paint the same picture. The first time I listened to this, only a few things jumped out at me as making real sense. Here is his scripture path.
Psalm 19:1-5
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.
6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
D&C 65:2-3
2 The keys of the kingdom of God are committed unto man on the earth, and from thence shall the gospel roll forth unto the ends of the earth, as the stone which is cut out of the mountain without hands shall roll forth, until it has filled the whole earth.
3 Yea, a voice crying—Prepare ye the way of the Lord, prepare ye the supper of the Lamb, make ready for the Bridegroom.
D&C 88:92
92 And angels shall fly through the midst of heaven, crying with a loud voice, sounding the trump of God, saying: Prepare ye, prepare ye, O inhabitants of the earth; for the judgment of our God is come. Behold, and lo, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Morgan makes the statement that an angel in Hebrew is a constellation. Well, I looked around and couldn’t find anything that said that. I did find that Orion was considered a angel, but no others. If that were the case, I could see an angel flying through heaven crying with a loud voice being the constellations crying from the heavens; but I always thought that scripture was in relation to Moroni and the Book of Mormon or something like that.
Rom 10:17-18
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.
So, I think what he is saying is that:
1 – The sound went for unto the earth from the prophet and apostles on the day of the Palmyra Temple dedication.
2 – The angels (planets) testified in the heavens.
3 – You just had the savior with you
4 – You can’t claim you didn’t know.
Joseph applies the same lesson in D&C 88:92
The only difference is, in the last days, no one follows the stars, so no one sees the sign.
ANOTHER TYPES AND SHADOWS
This is another place where the concept of “type and shadow” comes into play. The sign tells us that Babylon is ready to be burned.
D&C 88:93-94
93 And immediately there shall appear a great sign in heaven, and all people shall see it together.
94 And another angel shall sound his trump, saying: That great church, the mother of abominations, that made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, that persecuteth the saints of God, that shed their blood—she who sitteth upon many waters, and upon the islands of the sea—behold, she is the tares of the earth; she is bound in bundles; her bands are made strong, no man can loose them; therefore, she is ready to be burned. And he shall sound his trump both long and loud, and all nations shall hear it.
95 And there shall be silence in heaven for the space of half an hour; and immediately after shall the curtain of heaven be unfolded, as a scroll is unfolded after it is rolled up, and the face of the Lord shall be unveiled;
Morgan asks: do we see a sign of the burning of Babylon shortly after the dedication of the Palmyra temple?
9/11
Morgan then asks: if 9/11 is the sign, it should match the pattern of the revealed sign given to John the Revelator.
First the purpose of the sign.
Rev 18:4-5
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
Morgan goes on to explain the Greek explanation of Revelations 18:6 [This is at about 35:16 in the video]
The Greek means to “Pay Back Double” “unto her” “twofold”. [biblehub.com]
There must have been a tower that was destroyed by Babylon that Isaiah referenced.
The reference to pay back double appears to be in reference to God paying back Babylon double.
The twin towers were destroyed. They were two towers: or double.
While discussing the apparent association to Isaiah 9:10 Morgan references a book by Jonathan Cahn. I have not read it, but here is a short video of Jonathan talking about it in generalities. I think it is a promo for the book. You may need to read the book for the full details.
Isaiah 9:10
10 The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.
As I listened to Jonathan, I couldn’t help but wonder how what Jonathan would be able to dig up if he used the LDS standard works and not just the bible. But also it is interesting how much of the last days is playing out in America. I don’t recall at all, the Old and New Testaments talking about America. For us, we see it due to the revelations given by the prophet Joseph Smith, but everyone else? Jonathan Cahn?
Why New York City?
I remember on my mission, seeing banners on street posts saying NYC “Capital of the World”. A quick search online, you will see. In short, New York City being compared to Babylon makes full sense that it is the modern-day representations. I have wondered lately if Dubai is also a representation of modern-day Babylon. It certainly could be. But I’m not sure if they are clearly referenced in scripture as playing a part in the last days.
Interestingly, Morgan talks about something I’m not sure how to reference because I couldn’t find anything about a tower being destroyed in Israel. However, Morgan says scholars estimate a 21 to 24 year period passes before Israel is destroyed. Where he got that from? I don’t know.
YEAR 2 vs YEAR 2001
3 Nephi 1:27
27 And it came to pass that the ninety and third year did also pass away in peace, save it were for the Gadianton robbers, who dwelt upon the mountains, who did infest the land; for so strong were their holds and their secret places that the people could not overpower them; therefore they did commit many murders, and did do much slaughter among the people.
Morgan says for the timeline to be intact, in 2001 there would have needed to be many murders committed by secret combinations. It highly likely that 9/11 and the 3000+ people that died that day would be the modern day equivenant.
Rev 18:8-19
8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,
13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.
14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.
15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,

17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
911 Timeline
September 11, 2001 – For in one hour is thy judgement come.
8:46 AM – Flight 11 crashes into the World Trade Center’s North Tower. All passengers aboard are instantly killed, and employees of the WTC are trapped above the 91st floor.
9:03 AM – Flight 175 crashes into the WTC’s South Tower. All passengers aboard are killed instantly and so are an unknown number of people in the tower.
9:37 AM – Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon. All passengers aboard are instantly killed and so are 125 civilian and military personnel in the building.
Morgan goes on to say the longest period the stock market has been closed was 911. That is not true. The stock market closed for 4 months during WWI. Then Morgan clarifies that he meant since the great depression.
Between the boats, the dust on people, the attacks all within an hour, the burning. It is pretty clear that the 911 attack was likely the fulfillment of Rev 18. The destruction will be by way of violence.
Rev 18:21
21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
SORCERIES
Rev 18:23
23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
Morgan points our that it is all nations, not just one country. It would reference ALL GENTILE NATIONS (G7 NATIONS). Then he points out that we have already lost WWIII. We lost the cold war. This year the BRIX countries took over as the top GDP countries. Basically America lost the economic cold war.

Morgan asks: what happened in 2017 that would have caused the Gadianton robbers of our day to sally forth from their strongholds and secret places? Maybe the Election of Donald Trump?

Morgan asks… in 2020 did the Gadianton robbers lay siege and try to cut everyone off from their outward privileges.

As Morgan continues to lay this out, he talks about the great awakening in 3 Nephi 5:1 and refers to those who awaken as LIVING SOULS. What is a living soul? It is a spirit and body. The word of God is being put into the person. For the LDS you receive the breath of God at the temple. The covenant people of the Lord are awakening.
YEAR 22, 23, 24, 25 vs YEAR 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024
3 Nephi 5:7
7 And thus had the twenty and second year passed away, and the twenty and third year also, and the twenty and fourth, and the twenty and fifth; and thus had twenty and five years passed away.
8 And there had many things transpired which, in the eyes of some, would be great and marvelous; nevertheless, they cannot all be written in this book; yea, this book cannot contain even a hundredth part of what was done among so many people in the space of twenty and five years;
Morgan at this points starts to talk about “Living Souls” and “Great and Marvelous” events. [55:30] I really like what Morgan says here. If the spirit whispers truth, he can immediately, find references on the truth he was just taught. Humm. personally, I don’t aways confirm what the spirit tells me by looking to the scriptures. I guess we are a little different.
Search in quotes: “Great and Marvelous” he notes here that it is spelled two different ways. The other way is “Great and Marvellous” with two l’s. It pulls up Revelations 15.
Rev 15:1
1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.
So, within 3 Nephi 7; we are told 22, 23, 24, 25 passed away with “great and marvellous” events taking place. Then if you jump to revelations 15; it references 7 angels with 7 plagues. So Morgan asks, what are the plagues and who do they effect? They effect “living souls”
THE PLAGUES
Plague #1
Rev 16:2
2 And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.
What is a “noisome and grievous sore”? To know you would need to read this in 16th century English. The footnote only refers to it as something bad or evil. If you refer to the Webster 1828 Dictionary
SORE, noun
1. A place in an animal body where the skin and flesh are ruptured or bruised, so as to be pained with the slightest pressure.
2. An ulcer; a boil.
3. In Scriptures, grief; affliction. 2 Chronicles 6:28.
NOISOME, adjective
1. Noxious to health; hurtful; mischievous; unwholesome; insalubrious; destructive; as noisome winds; noisome effluvia or miasmata; noisome pestilence.
2. Noxious; injurious.
3. Offensive to the smell or other senses; disgusting; fetid.

3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.
This is interesting, Morgan said he spoke to numerous people about this verse, as well as an AI bot for an hour trying to make sure he was reading this verse correctly.

- The sea [direct object]
- it became as the blood of a dead man [indirect object that is not specific]
- So what became as the blood of a Deadman? the vial, the sea, or something else?
- The AI said, it is a combination of what was in the vial with the sea, that causes the sea to become as the blood of a Deadman.
- By revelations own interpretation, the sea is people or mankind.
So, what is poured into people that causes the blood of people to become as the blood of a Deadman?
Have you seen a flu like affliction followed by a vial that turned the men’s blood into the blood of a Deadman?
Covid and the Covid Vaccine.
At the [1:01:05] point in the video Morgan starts talking about the problem with latter-day saints and this scripture. The prophet was vaccinated. He made a statement to the church about being vaccinated. The members of the church all were mad at each other over was it the voice of the Lord, or was it the prophet giving his opinion about being vaccinated? Personally, I remember there being a great strife over this in my ward, neighborhood, work, family, online communities. Opinions were strong on both sides. Even though personal revelation should have guided everyone, many conditions made it difficult to not accept the vaccine; even if personal revelation told you that you should not.
- If you received revelation that you should – Good
- If you received revelation that you should not – Good
- If you did not receive revelation and you blindly followed, then you might want to think about that.
This is interesting, because as members of the church, the prophet has been teaching us A LOT lately that we must “Hear Him” in other words, hear the voice of he Lord, and or His Holy Spirit. We must learn to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit and have receive personal revelation to survive the days that are coming.
Plague #3
Rev 16:3
4 And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.
5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.
6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.
7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.
In Ohio, we had a train derailment that dumped toxic spill that contaminates a river that touches 1/3rd of the fresh water for the United States.
Plague #4
Rev 16:8-9
8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.
9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.
We are not sure. But, there have been many solar events lately. Northern Lights have been seen in places they are not normally seen.
Carrington Event – The Carrington Event was a large solar storm that took place at the beginning of September 1859, just a few months before the solar maximum of 1860.
Northern Lights – Northern Lights Are Seen in Places Where They Normally Aren’t – The New York Times (nytimes.com) But, this does not scorch men with fire. Not like the Carrington Event, and not like a severe drought. Abnormal summer heat would probably be declared Global Warming.
